The Perfect Circle, Original Cupcake Bake Shop  165 N. Glassell Street, Old Towne Orange, Ca.

Made From Scratch, Baked with Love,  WINNER of the Food Network CUPCAKE WARS.

This is the sign in their window, as we went visiting the street used in the Movie “THAT THING YOU DO”"  Like a step back in time to the 50′s and 60′s nostalgia.

The Hours of business were all listed as HAPPY HOURS.  HA HA ! !  ! ! !

We ordered a Chocolate Cookies and Cream, a Banana, a Lemon tart, and Vanilla.

Now at  $3.00 a cupcake, NORMAL sized cupcakes, Not Large or anything, They were all just AVERAGE.  I bake and have to tell you, the Banana was the tasiest. The Vanilla was second best, and the Cookies and cream was just plain dry and BORING.

Cute shop, nice decor, but Not worth $12.00 for 4 cupcakes.

Jagerhaus, Authentic German Food 2525 East Ball Road, Anaheim, Ca. 92806 714-520-9500. Www.jagerhaus.net. Sandra Schwaiger, Owner

We have been here many times. Finding a good German Restaurant is not easy. There aren’t many of them. We found Jagerhaus by making a wrong turn and passed it about 5 years ago. We went back and had a delicious meal. Sandra, the owner, comes out and visits the tables and welcomes you to her restaurant. The atmosphere is like sitting in Frankfurt. Prices are very reasonable.

Come and try the Jagerhaus next time you’re in Anaheim.

Mr Biggs Bar & Grill 596 Tenth Ave,New York, NY  (212)-246-2030 / (212)246-4744   www.mrbiggsnewyork.com

After drinks at the Blue Fin, Dinner at Don Giovanni’s and walking down the sidewalks we came to Mr Biggs. It said karaoke and our resident Karaoke Queen, TERRY, immediately was ready to enter…LOL   Small restaurant bar was packed on a Friday night about midnight.  we got a table for the 6 of Us, Terry put in karaoke requests and the night was off and running. There was warm atmosphere, everyone in the restaurant was having a GREAT time. Meet some other couples that enjoyed all the singing, had shots of Southern Comfort and Lime Juice ???? ( Kinda weird) . We got up to leave about 2am , and there was Stephanie, Our waitress from the Blue Fin, the singer ! ! ! .  We said Good Night and headed back to Hotel.

Lots of fun…. stop in and enjoy the fun.

Blue Fin  W Hotel Times Square 1567 Broadway at 47th New York, NY 212-918-1400   www.brguesthospitality.com

The Band took a walk down Times Square and stopped in to have a drink at the Bar. The place was packed at 6 pm on a Friday evening. We squeezed in and got a Table for 2 for the 6 of US next to the window looking out on Times Square.  Ordered some California rolls and beverages from Stephani, our waitress.  The boys chatted it up with Stepanie, who said she was a singer also. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had another round  then headed out for dinner. They had a Restaurant there, but was booked.

Nice place, great location, and a good time   4 stars….

Playwright Celtic Pub & Restaurant 732 8th St. New York NY 10036   www.playwrightcelticpubnyc.com

We were in NYC to produce a band playing at BB Kings that evening and got up and went for breakfast with our friends. They took us to Playwright Celtic Pub, where we had the Irish breakfasts. All traditional, except for ???? Serving French fries instead of pan fried potatoes.  the Bloody Mary’s were OK.. something to get you going in the morning …LOL

it was 12 Noon and we were a little hung over from the long night of Partying with PAT for her 70th.  Bar was packed, food was good, nice decor, service was friendly and quick.

Don Giovanni Ristorante 358 West 44 Street New York, NY 212-581-4939   no web site listed ????

Our good friend PAT was celebrating her 70th Birthday and her husband Bill took us to Don Giovannti’s on 44th, which was just a few blocks from our Hotel. It was a nice warm and friendly Ristorante with a good aroma as we entered the front door. It says they are known for their brick oven pizza.  We started with assorted drinks and apps, Rolls with garlic and the Fried Calamari, it was delicious, tender inside and crispy on outside. There was 6 of us so we tried a lot of things on the menu. We ordered a few salads, Veal  Marsala, Veal Piccata, Lobster Ravioli, Fried Chicken Breast on rice, Linguini and clams. All was delicious. The meat dishes were VERY Tender and the sauces were excellent.

Unfortunately, we didn’t order the Famous PIZZA, but the aroma all night of them cooking was enough to let us know they Must be good. we didn’t order dessert either.  Pricing was in the middle .   ALL in ALL, a GREAT Friday evening in Downtown just blocks off Time Square with GREAT friends and delicious food.

4 STARS………..  Happy Birthday PAT.

Da Gennaro Ristorante 129 Mulberry Street New York, NY.10013  212-431-3934   www.dagennarorestaurant.com

Arrived via taxi to go Gucci purse shopping and the cab dropped us off in Front of Da Gennaro Restaurant. We started to head out and got stopped by a friendly guy that persuaded us to come in and have a great Italian dinner. We discussed it while he was directing us to the entrance …. LOL …. We really wanted breakfast , but went inside to get warm. They started us with sourdough bread and a delicious olive oil with garlic and spices. We ordered a bottle of San Pellegrino mineral water, the caprese and fried calarmari . Now, you have to understand, we tour the world and the fried calamari is our dish to judge all restaurants.  drum roll………… WELL, it wasn’t that good.  could tell it was frozen, was over cooked and rubbery. The coating was OK, but ,,HEY…we’re FOOD SNOBS.  Next the caprese was OK, but tomatoes are out of season and they were a little hard, but all was good and the Presentation was nice.  For dinner we ordered the risotto with shrimp, tortellini with alfredo sauce, lobster ravioli and spaghetti bolognese. We enjoyed two bottles of middle priced Chianti, which did need to breathe for about 15 minutes to open up.  Everyones meal was good. we thought the tortellini was a little too salty, and everyone added the grated parmesan cheese and cracked pepper to taste. For dessert we tried the tiramisu, a cannoli, chocolate cream puff. all plates were left empty…LOL

A woman came by our table a few times and ask how our meal was. Our server was very attentive. The decor was pleasant, very Italian and the restaurant was busy( always a good sign). The meal was not cheap, with tip $320.00   We knew it was going to be expensive and we enjoyed trying out all the food choices.

On a side note, which we all said… for a $300.00 meal, the paper napkins were kinda tacky….get some nice cloth ones….                3.5 stars

and on another side note…… after we left and walked down the street, most other restaurants were empty on a Sunday at 1pm??????   Da Gennaro’s was packed  ! ! ! ! !

Old Range Steakhouse   7081 N Lake Blvd   Tahoe Vista, CA 96148  (530) 546-4800

Our friend Peggy found this place years ago coming to Tahoe to ski. Four of us met there for dinner in January 2012. We ordered drinks and had a relaxing time looking out at the sunset on Lake Tahoe.
We started with a house salad and blue cheese dressing, which was excellent…. The house bread was delicious. Two had the cowgirl cut of Prime rib. We had one grilled salmon and a combo BBQ ribs and rotisserie roasted 1/4 chicken. All was trimmed with the house specialty roast garlic and chive mashed potatoes. All was Delicious……hummmmm good. The restaurant decor was a scream. The owner said they had attended a lot of yard sales. !!!!!!!
Everyone had a good time and would recommend this place.

4 stars…..
Next time you’re in North Shore Lake Tahoe give it a try.

On a side note, From a Professional Lighting designer and decor lighting specialist…. The rooms are too dark and when you can’t read the menu… IT’s JUST too DARK…  There is a happy medium with accent lighting and enough ambient room light to read the menu……

Sushi Pier  177 Lake Tahoe Blvd  Stateline, NV 89449  (775) 588-8588

We went to South Lake Tahoe to meet friends for a few days. We saw a Sushi place on Hwy 50 Just past the casino’s and went there for dinner. There were 4 of us and when we arrived the place was packed. It was a 40-60 minute wait. We hung out and waited because the vibe was so good and people just kept coming in and waiting to eat here. We grabbed seats at the bar after 25 minutes, had saki’s and then got seated at the sushi bar. The sushi chef’s were Great. We went with the all u can eat menu and had a delightful meal. Everything was delicious. Very delicious. We even re-ordered some items. We ended it all with a “”happy ending”" ( tempura fried banana with whipped cream and fresh strawberry compote)

Everyone enjoyed the meal.. 4 stars….. This is a great place to visit.
