It said karaoke and our resident Karaoke Queen, TERRY, immediately was ready to enter…LOL   Small restaurant bar was packed on a Friday night about midnight.  we got a table for the 6 of Us, Terry put in karaoke requests and the night was off and running. There was warm atmosphere, everyone in the restaurant was having a GREAT time. Meet some other couples that enjoyed all the singing, had shots of Southern Comfort and Lime Juice ???? ( Kinda weird) . We got up to leave about 2am , and there was Stephanie, Our waitress from the Blue Fin, the singer ! ! ! .  We said Good Night and headed back to Hotel.

Lots of fun…. stop in and enjoy the fun.

The Band took a walk down Times Square and stopped in to have a drink at the Bar. The place was packed at 6 pm on a Friday evening. We squeezed in and got a Table for 2 for the 6 of US next to the window looking out on Times Square.  Ordered some California rolls and beverages from Stephani, our waitress.  The boys chatted it up with Stepanie, who said she was a singer also. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had another round  then headed out for dinner. They had a Restaurant there, but was booked.

Nice place, great location, and a good time   4 stars….

Playwright Celtic Pub & Restaurant 732 8th St. New York NY 10036   www.playwrightcelticpubnyc.com

We were in NYC to produce a band playing at BB Kings that evening and got up and went for breakfast with our friends. They took us to Playwright Celtic Pub, where we had the Irish breakfasts. All traditional, except for ???? Serving French fries instead of pan fried potatoes.  the Bloody Mary’s were OK.. something to get you going in the morning …LOL

it was 12 Noon and we were a little hung over from the long night of Partying with PAT for her 70th.  Bar was packed, food was good, nice decor, service was friendly and quick.

4 Stars…..

Don Giovanni Ristorante 358 West 44 Street New York, NY 212-581-4939   no web site listed ????

Our good friend PAT was celebrating her 70th Birthday and her husband Bill took us to Don Giovannti’s on 44th, which was just a few blocks from our Hotel. It was a nice warm and friendly Ristorante with a good aroma as we entered the front door. It says they are known for their brick oven pizza.  We started with assorted drinks and apps, Rolls with garlic and the Fried Calamari, it was delicious, tender inside and crispy on outside. There was 6 of us so we tried a lot of things on the menu. We ordered a few salads, Veal  Marsala, Veal Piccata, Lobster Ravioli, Fried Chicken Breast on rice, Linguini and clams. All was delicious. The meat dishes were VERY Tender and the sauces were excellent.

Unfortunately, we didn’t order the Famous PIZZA, but the aroma all night of them cooking was enough to let us know they Must be good. we didn’t order dessert either.  Pricing was in the middle .   ALL in ALL, a GREAT Friday evening in Downtown just blocks off Time Square with GREAT friends and delicious food.

4 STARS………..  Happy Birthday PAT.

Old Range Steakhouse   7081 N Lake Blvd   Tahoe Vista, CA 96148  (530) 546-4800

Our friend Peggy found this place years ago coming to Tahoe to ski. Four of us met there for dinner in January 2012. We ordered drinks and had a relaxing time looking out at the sunset on Lake Tahoe.
We started with a house salad and blue cheese dressing, which was excellent…. The house bread was delicious. Two had the cowgirl cut of Prime rib. We had one grilled salmon and a combo BBQ ribs and rotisserie roasted 1/4 chicken. All was trimmed with the house specialty roast garlic and chive mashed potatoes. All was Delicious……hummmmm good. The restaurant decor was a scream. The owner said they had attended a lot of yard sales. !!!!!!!
Everyone had a good time and would recommend this place.

4 stars…..
Next time you’re in North Shore Lake Tahoe give it a try.

On a side note, From a Professional Lighting designer and decor lighting specialist…. The rooms are too dark and when you can’t read the menu… IT’s JUST too DARK…  There is a happy medium with accent lighting and enough ambient room light to read the menu……

NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY OTHER JOE’s…  so it says on the menu ! ! ! !   HAHA…

I’ve been going to “O J’s ”  in downtown San Jose for decades. It’s the best place to go for a Great late night Italian style home cooked meal, because they are open till 1AM.  Waiters are in Tux’s and Fresh Sourdough Bread & butter is served to your table. Everything is cooked to order so always hot and fresh. Great place to order breakfast at midnight.

The food speaks for itself.  There is a reason this place has been around for almost Six decades.  enuff Said…..      NOT cheap, But delicious…

5 Stars

We’re in Hawaii for our anniversary and brought all our family and friends to Side Street Inn for dinner. I have been here many times and enjoy the place tremendously.
Tonight we started with the calamari, side style famous fried rice, traditional basil pesto crusted ahi filets, pan fried island pork chop, 12oz Sizzling rib eye steak, hoisin chicken, Kim chee.
All was delicious.
Next…
We ordered edamame with garlic and escargot. The edamame was over cooked, too mushy and the escargot was cheesy ,,, but weird.

Dessert:
We had the Lilikoi creme brûlée, Fried butter pound cake, brownie ala mode. All agreed dessert was really good.

This side street location has been remodeled and looks great. Lots of flat screen tv for sports.
5 stars…. Highly recommended for great food and a good time. a REAL LOCAL Favorite spot.  Check it out…

Having been here numerous times, I have finally gotten around to writing a review. The food here is EXCELLENT….. Very FRESH…DELICIOUS… Everything on the menu is made fresh. Every time I’m in Chicago area I have dinner at Fresh Starts. There is a great wine selection to compliment your meal. Joann, who is the owner, personally selects the wines with Robert and her staff.

Fresh Starts has been located at 1040 Sterling for 25 years in Flossmoor Illinois.

For apps we had fresh bread, butter and roasted red pepper hummus, Thai chili shrimp, tomato basil with goat cheese soup, assorted salads.

Our dinner included Sticky Sweet with a little Heat slab ribs served with asian slaw and sweet potato planks,
Mojito Chicken Breast with black beans & rice, grilled poblano
peppers
Tilapia Fish Tacos, corn tortillas, adobo lime sauce, roasted poblano peppers, shredded lettuce and tomato
Cilantro pesto marinated grilled seafood: calamari, shrimp & scallops, blistered grape tomatoes, roasted poblano peppers.

Turtle gelato by Zarlengo… Voted #1 Ice Cream in Chicago.

Needless to say… Joann with her attentive staff make it a very enjoyable meal and a great time

Five stars. *****. /. 9.5 out of 10

A really nice restaurant at the end of LAX runway. You can sit and enjoy lunch or dinner watching the planes land almost a couple hundred feet away from you.
We ordered the fish n chips, all American Kobe burger with blue cheese, and grilled chicken sandwich. All came with fries or choice of sides. Service was fairly quick and all prepared elegantly. Looking around the room there were LA police officers, airline pilots and stewardess, business people and families with kids. There are lots of vintage aircraft in the yard to look it and walk outside and view. We ordered a carrot cake for dessert….. Was a little dry, and cold, like it had been sitting in fridge too long and dried out. Nice presentation though.

We gave it a 8 out of 10

Out to the West end of Dallas restaurant row. The crew wanted ribs so the Smokehouse got the nod. The family style all you can eat was our order. We ordered the pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled chicken, Cole slaw, Mac & cheese, mash potatoes and gravy. Since we have had some of the best BBQ all over the US, we consider ourselves true food snobs…..LOL. We gave the “Q”. A 6 out of 10. The atmosphere was good, and our server was prompt. Everyone had a good time. We just felt everything was a little flat, especially for the long storied history of Sonny Bryans.
