The Butler Restaurant. Home of the Butler Burger.

We drove over to show a good friend from California the town of Saugatuck. It was 2:45pm in the afternoon so we stopped in at The Butler for a late lunch.
Our waitress was Nikki. We started with some water with EXTRA lemon, and an iced tea.
For appetizers We tried a small basket of their beer battered onion rings, beer battered french fries, the bacon wrapped Scallops and the crab stuffed mushroom caps.
The onion rings were crisp on the outside and the large slices of onion were tasty. The fries, looked more like a frozen fries we get at a Jack in the Box… Did not look freshly made at all, but were crisp and tasted good.

The bacon wrapped scallops were kinda chewy, the bacon was crisp, but did look a little over cooked.
The crab stuffed mushrooms, were drenched in melted cheese, and frankly, none of us ever tasted any crab.

We ordered a cup of Butler New England Clam Chowder, the Perch sandwich and a Cherry Chicken and Walnut salad.

The soup and salad were both good, the Perch was a little over fried/cooked, dry and mostly tasted like corn meal with not much fish flavor.

Some of our party had been to The Butler numerous times before and said that this was not one of the finer days they had dined there.

Nikki took good care for us. Thanks

Broadway Oyster Bar. St Louis, Mo. Established October 12, 1978

We came to downtown while visiting Ronnie and Cheryl at Christmas Time. They took us to the Broadway Oyster Bar. We started with assorted beers and cocktails. Had the Crispy Calamari, which…. Was Crispy BUT. A little over cooked… But was good.

We ordered 2 of the nightly specials, Blackened Maui Maui……yum yum yum… And the Shrimp encrusted grilled swordfish…. Delicious We also had the Lobster and Mushroom pasta and the Crawfish Étouffée .
Our server , Lindsay took good care of us.
Everyone had a great time and we give it 4.5 Stars

The Kitchen. 1530 16th. Street downtown Denver, Co. 80202. 303-623-3127

Ten of us embarked down 16th Street mall to our dinner reservation at “The Kitchen” restaurant. We were in town for a convention site survey and Trystin, our server, did an outstanding job. We ordered a variety of white & red wines, tried the smokey parsley margarita…(very good, but different) and of course mixed drinks. We ordered the Collio Pinot Gregio, red was Italian 2009 Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo . Our appetizer was the Grand Seafood Platter with lobster, oysters, chilled smoked mussels, littleneck clams & king crab legs. For salads we tried the Escarole salad, roasted organic beet salad, crispy pig ears, marinated white runner beans and peppers, The Kitchen Tomato soup, sourdough French bread with butter and coarse salt……… NO COMPLAINTS SO FAR. !!!!!!!!!

For dinner we had a variety of their menu, trying and sampling all the fare and passing plates so everyone could enjoy. Everything was Delicious….

For Dessert, we had the Sticky Toffee pudding with vanilla bean gelato , potde chocolate, lemon tart….yummmm very very very. Good.

Our only ,,,,, complaint,,,,,,, if we wished to call it that,,, was that the meal took almost 3 hours on a Thursday night in a half empty restaurant. We weren’t rushed for time and the restaurant didn’t need our table so they didn’t rush us out of the place. The service, wait staff, chefs & management were extremely attentive to group, keeping our water always filled, wine and drinks being served, and the food coming out of “THE KITCHEN”

And YES, We will be going back…..

Miramar Beach Restaurant Half Moon Bay, Ca.

You have to be looking for the turn off to get there or you’ll miss it down a little side street. The location is great looking out on the ocean, so we went in for a drink and see this historic place. Built in the early 1900′s this restaurant has quite the history, surviving through prohibition, numerous owners and remodels. We just stopped in for drinks and a look around, but the menu looked good for appetizers and dinner. If for nothing else stop in for the ocean view and enjoy a drink or some dinner.

It was a lazy afternoon and wanted to just find a nice burger… I ask around and was told go to Ketch Joanne. 2 of us arrived about 2:30pm The place was half empty due to the lull between lunch and dinner, but was still busy. We ordered 2 bloody mary’s, an Ortega chili and cheese burger, a ruben on rye, garlic fries and onion rings.
All was nicely prepared, burger was very very tasty, fries were crisp on outside and soft inside. Just the right amount of garlic….yum
The Ruben was toasted and delicious. The onion rings were REAL onion rings and crisp…perfect.
Also, my water glass NEVER got empty. The staff took great care of us. !!!!!!
This place on the wharf has lots of character and a good find. Next time you’re in Half Moon Bay………. Enjoy it…..

Sam’s Chowder House. Www.samschowderhouse.com
4210 North Cabrillo Hwy Half Moon Bay, Ca. 94019 650-712-0245

Sam’s Chowder House has been on the beach for about 5 years. They serve new England style cuisine. We wandered in for dinner and drinks. Started with an order of calamari, a bowl of chowder and fresh sourdough bread. It was all delicious, as well was served quite quickly. For dinner we ordered large prawns stuffed with dungeness crab and bacon wrapped. It came with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Our other entree was a whole lobster, halved and grilled with asparagus and steamed broccoli. Again, dinner was served promptly. Service all around was nice. Between all the apps and dinner, we needed “to go” boxes !!!!!!! Over all atmosphere was great, looking out on the ocean and sun down. It was foggy so we didn’t get to see a sunset, but it was pleasant. The place is quite popular so reservations are recommended. 4 Stars

Blue Fin  W Hotel Times Square 1567 Broadway at 47th New York, NY 212-918-1400   www.brguesthospitality.com

The Band took a walk down Times Square and stopped in to have a drink at the Bar. The place was packed at 6 pm on a Friday evening. We squeezed in and got a Table for 2 for the 6 of US next to the window looking out on Times Square.  Ordered some California rolls and beverages from Stephani, our waitress.  The boys chatted it up with Stepanie, who said she was a singer also. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had another round  then headed out for dinner. They had a Restaurant there, but was booked.

Nice place, great location, and a good time   4 stars….

It was a sleepy Monday in late November and We brought out of town friends from Chicago to see Monterey Bay, Cannery Row and the Wharf. We visited a few restaurants and hotels to sample the Monterey Bay cuisine. We went to the Sandbar & Grill for dinner. Started the meal with warm sour dough bread and butter, a bottle of Napa Cellars 2008 zinfandel and some deep fried calamari. We werent overly impressed with the breading on the calamari but the calamari itself was nice and tender. The Zin was not great but..average. Next we had a ceasar salad, cup of chowder, and the evening special of stuffed halibut with crab meat in a sherry creme sauce, with risotto and fresh green beans. Absolutely delicious.
We finished dinner with some lemoncello. Nice!!!!
Our server, Steve, was very attentive and very friendly.
Everyone had a great evening.

Embassy Suites Hotel. Seaside, Ca. Pacifica Cafe

We had a little time to kill and was looking for a quick local meal and did a web search. We ended up at the Pacifica Cafe for an early dinner be fore running off to see a show.
We ordered the calamari , that the menu said was with tempura, but showed up with a seasoned breading with jalapenos ????. We also had the lettuce wedge with the blue cheese. It was good but the blue cheese was a little weak.
For dinner we ordered one serving of the halibut. Our server had the chef split it on 2 plates so we both enjoyed it with the carrots, asparagus, and broccoli. Very tasty and the fish was nice and flaky.

Didn’t have time for dessert, but menu items looked good.

Was a sleepy Wednesday night in Monterey bay.
Enjoyed our last minute meal. Our server was very attentive .
